Freebie: Measuring with inches and feet

Freebie!!!!

Holly made this Measurement Activity to use in a station for our Math workshop segment of the day. She put together a mystery bag that had all kinds of items in it: a tie, ribbons, belts, a newspaper... The kids had a good time pulling items out of the mystery bag and measuring. They got a good surprise when they found a red ribbon that was 15 feet long! They learned that they had to work together to measure it and determine the inches and feet.

Now  I'm off to buy some things on my TPT wish list! We are getting ready to work on telling time... my least favorite concept to teach, but it will be easier with the great items available on tpt for teaching time.

Fables and Morals

Fables for kiddos to read and respond to..... The fable is a little booklet tucked inside the puppet. There is a grahic organizer on the back for resonses and a place to write about the fable. Holly made a fable patch for storing. Each animal can be displayed. The kids will love doing voices for each animal. Click here for a view in our TPT store.

So Holly remade James Oglethorpe.... She was a little freaked out by the other one's eyes. I think they were both cute :)

Important Georgians

So next week we decided to continue our study of Georgia's history, including three important Georgians: Mary Musgrove, Tomochichi, and Jame Oglethorpe. The problem was there isn't anything cute out there! The texts from our series is dry and not that kid friendly. So we made these to help us teach the concept. We even wrote extended texts for our reading lessons. We will be using the texts with All about ... organizers. Then we are making the Who Am I? pockets. The arms came out a little wonky, but the kids always like an outline to follow. We thought it would be fun for the kids to write clues about the person and then use voice to share the clues. We went ahead and posted these activities on TPT... as we thought others may want something different to do.

We're getting ready for Thanksgiving this week! The Pilgrim diorama and writing project is available as the free preview for our Thanksgiving unit on TPT. The kids loved it last year and were able to add their own artwork to our simple drawings. They also used the graphic organizer to write a brief summary of the first Thanksgiving. This year we're doing a play! We have some real hams who will love it!Click here to download preview
